  • Minifie Park Child Care Centre is relocating to a brand new building and they asked eMOVING for some boxes. We were more than happy to provide as many boxes as they needed, 90 in-fact! The staff at the child care were lovely and the boxes made their move a complete hassle-free experience. Thanks again to all involved at the centre.

What To Do Before You Move

June 18th, 2012 by

A couple weeks back on the blog we told you some Top Tips When Moving, but it’s essential to get things rolling before moving day or you might forget something important. Take a look at these tips below, and look to have these organised 3 to 4 weeks before you move.

- Settle outstanding bills

Having bills still outstanding after you’ve moved house can cause headaches, especially if the companies billing you don’t know that you’ve moved. Make sure to have everything paid for and up to date before you leave, and avoid a nasty surprise down the road!

- Back up important information on any computers you own

The bumpy ride involved in moving might cause problems to the hard drive of your laptop or PC, so if there’s anything important you want to hold on to, burn an extra copy onto CD or DVD. External hard drives are now available at pretty affordable prices, which could allow you to back up your entire hard drive before the move.

- Notify your landlord of the date you’re planning to leave

If you’re renting your current property, you’ll have to call your landlord and let them know the date you’ll be leaving. This would also be a good time to plan a date for a final inspection, so you can get your bond back.

- Arrange when to pick up your boxes from eMOVING

As you probably already know, eMOVING plastic boxes are a reliable, eco-friendly alternative to cardboard boxes. Organise with us beforehand when you’d like to have the boxes to start packing, and how long you’ll need them for. You can order online right now by clicking here.

- Get your family’s school and medical records

While you might think everything is stored online these days, it’s essential that you pick up records and certificates that your family’s school or doctor might be holding onto. When you get to your new place, take these along to the appropriate places, and make the moving process that little bit smoother.

- Get your pet’s medical records

You should also pick up the information of any pets you have at your local veterinarian. It’ll be important to have this information at hand when your pets run into trouble at their new home (and don’t forget to take them with you!)

- Get rid of what you don’t need

Take a look through your house and find the things that aren’t worth packing, and throw them out! For the things that still have value, you can give these to your neighbours or family, or pass them along to charity.

Follow these tips, and moving house will be a stress-free experience.

Top Tips When Moving

May 28th, 2012 by

Moving house can be an exciting experience. Of course, it can also be an incredible chore. In order to make moving house as pleasant as possible, follow the pointers in the list below. It’ll ensure you get the most out of moving!

1. Use eMOVING boxes.

  • Our plastic boxes help save the environment, make moving easier and save money, so they deserve a mention! Remember that when you move, you’ll probably underestimate how many boxes you’ll actually need. There are few things more annoying then being a few boxes short!

2. Keep stuff together.

  • When moving, there can be a temptation to just throw everything in boxes, throw the boxes in the van and worry about it later. But don’t be lazy! Try to keep objects from each area of your house packed into the same boxes, or you’ll be spending hours trying to figure out what goes where in your new home.

3. Keep the important things with you.

  • Papers such as wills, records, realtor info and birth certificates shouldn’t be sent with the mover. Keep them together in your car, and you won’t have to worry about where you left them.

4. Use your luggage.

  • Okay, it might hurt our business a little to tell you this. But you can always use your luggage to pack clothes, sheets and towels. Here’s an idea: In your luggage, pack the things you’ll want for the first few days after moving. That’ll mean you won’t have to go searching through boxes for clothes to wear the day after the move.

5. Pack ahead.

  • The earlier you start packing, the better. Start to pack things up like out-of-season clothes, unused electrical goods and extra toiletries well before it’s time to leave, and you’ll give yourself one less thing to worry about.

If you plan your move well, keep the important things close at hand and use eMOVING reusable boxes, you’re move is going to be a breeze. Make the right choices now, and thank yourself later!
